Web 2.0 Setup Continues

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

As you should see, the site is becoming more involved with new buttons here and new buttons there and an overall different look to a certain degree. I am still in the throws of putting the web 2.0 touches on our site. I want to get it ready so you can see just exactly what some of the things you can do with a blog in this new online web 2.0 world.

The new gray button located at the top of the first sidebar section is a button that allows you to click on which in turn shows up on a social site showing that someone likes what they have read here. At present I can’t remember which site it registers with, but right now it’s not really that important. I will put everything together and explain it more when we are further along.

Then there is a red bar on the right side of the sidebar and that too let’s you cast a vote about our site. It too registers with a social site. So the more votes we get the better ranking we get on the sites, which in turn brings more visitors here. More traffic is what we want naturally. Down at the bottom you’ll see the phrase, Only Wire. That too is a new button, but it is mostly for me to use. It sends out information to a gazzillion sites all at once when I post a new article here or submission of some sort. It saves a major amount of time. The info is sent out to web 2.0 sites.

I’m going to add a wordpress plugin later on tonight that will send a short message to Twitter when ever a post is made here. If you don’t know what Twitter is, it’s a social site where you can post tiny snippet messages about anything actually. Then based on your ……not sure how to say it…..but people can click on you and follow you. So any time you post a tweet on your twitter page, anyone that is following you gets it posted on their twitter page. This addon will send my posts automatically to twitter to the people that are following me.

Again the reason for doing all of this is to develop traffic and interest to our site. To move this blog into the web 2.0 world successfully. Hopefully in the near future I will add a membership section to this blog and as a result of that, you and I can form an advetising team that will be able to help each other out in developing traffic to our sites and raise our standing in the web 2.0 world and on the net in general. But one step at a time.

Right now I encourage you to cast votes for us if you like what we are doing here. I’m going to continue to attempt to get more trackback links over the next few days also. Plus I still have the second part of the webinar to watch that got me started on this web 2.0 path. Thank you in advance for clicking the red and gray buttons and voting for this site.

Nothing really new on the Google Nemesis trial. Still no sales and traffic to the websites are slowly trickling in day by day. More on that later. Also I will be doing another product review in the next day or so…so look for that. It will hopefully save you some money.

One more thing I forgot. Under the Bookmark link on the right side bar you’ll see there is a green bar. That is so you can click and then this article get posted and voted on at Technorati. It also is a social site.

Trackback Links Intergral Part of Web 2.0

I couldn’t sleep so I decided to do a little more web 2.0 work on our site. This has to do with what is called Trackback Links. A blog that I came across that was very interesting and valuable, that will give you some insight on why this is important to us as we ready this site to enter the Web 2.0 world can be found at  Affordable-Internet-Marketing  Increase Blog Traffic It concerns a video done by Jack Humphrey who is admittedly one of the Blog World experts as I see it. Affordable Internet Marketing’s  Case Stevens has a very nice blog that has a great deal of information. I believe we will be able to learn some stuff just by looking over some of his tutorials and other parts of his site.

With any luck we may even be able to get a trackback from him. That’s important because our mission is to get our site known and seen by as many people as possible. From the looks of Case’s site, it most likely gets a fair amount of blog traffic. So we shall see how things workout.

Google Nemesis Report

The Google Nemesis trial continues. The site built with the new G.N. tool is neck and neck with my personally built site. Neither one has converted a sale. The Google Nemesis site has reached just over 100 visitors. By any standard, there should have been at least one buyer. The other site has had just under 50 visitors. But again it is 2 days behind the G.N. site. So to be fair to it, we will see what the numbers are when it hits 100.

They are both running with the same google adwords’ ads. I figured that would be the most fair and the best way to see which page converted best.

Still working on getting all of the web 2.0 tools and sites setup. Then we will kick our web 2.0 activities in and see what difference that makes in driving traffic to this site. Been a bit slow going this week, since I haven’t felt very good and our Boston Terrier Buddy died this last weekend. He was 10 years old and sweet as could be. He developed a brain tumor and so things have not been very cheery here to say the least.

Going to get out of here right now. Have a major headache, but wanted to throw up an update. For everyone.

Taking Another Web 2.0 Step

We are taking another web 2.0 step by setting up this web blog with mybloglog. This will  be a short post as it’s for their spider to come see that we really exist as we say we do.

Undergoing MyBlogLog Verification

First Web 2.0 Step

Well we have taken the first Web 2.0 step. We are still going to move along with our affiliate marketing project. But time waits for no man or internet either, so our first step is claiming this blog with Technorati. For those who may not know what Technorati is, you'll just have to google it. Too much for me to explain here. Plus I'm tired. Been a long day. The following is our proof that I own this blog. Once this blog post is published they will send out a spider to look and find the code and then that will show them that I have ownership of this blog.

I see that they connected to my brother's profile. I guess cause we share everything on the net along with our family. He has a Tech account, so anyway I'll leave it the way it is. Our family also has two dress boutiques that my neice's run.

<a href="http://technorati.com/claim/enttdefc4” rel=”me”>Technorati Profile</a>

One quick note. Once we move further into setting up the web 2.0 tools we need, I believe we will start a marketing buzz group for online marketers so we can cross promote each other’s stuff. It will help all of us in developing our online business’.

Life Changes Every Moment

The headline might be obvious, but it is no more relevant than it is to the internet. The internet is an ever changing and evolving animal. What has become extremely clear is that if you don’t change with it you are doomed for failure if you are an online marketer. What worked yesterday does not necessarily work today.

There is a wave of ‘Big Giveaways’ going on now. That is one of the fastest moving waves on the net right now. There is one reason that is…..because the sale of the products being given away have run their course. So their value as a sellable product are gone, and now their only value is to try and add a few more people to the owner’s list. These would be people who would not shell out the cash when the product hit the market.

Problem is, most but not all, products appearing in these giveaways are old hat and are way behind the new internet wave. That fresh movement sweeping the net as you maybe aware of is social web marketing. Or as it is fondly known  Web 2.0.  Affiliate marketing is still a viable source of income, and will continue to be on into the future. Albeit extremely competitive as more and more people are attempting to make money with affiliate programs. But it is not a stroll in the park as we  seem to be demonstrating here as of late.

While we have quite a few readers here, none of you seem to be prone to speak up. I wish that were not the case, but that’s ok. As long as I’m not sitting here all alone. We will continue to test for the rest of the month our marketing with ‘Google Nemesis’ vs my individual site building. Still no sales from either side.

We will be moving into the Web 2.0 world of list building and marketing here very soon. I’m viewing a webinar series in the next couple of days and then we will start building a web 2.0 network and see how that goes. I will announce and list everything we are doing to get that accomplished. This site is actually the first step into moving into the Web 2.0 world. While we have some Digg and Stumble On and like minded accounts, we haven’t used them to their fullest as of yet. But we are not far from that becoming the next step in our evolution.

By the way, feel free to click on some of our sponsor ads to help us defray some costs if you don’t mind. I can only say this once as I don’t want to get into trouble with google or anyone else since it’s kind of a no no to have people do that. Only if you feel like it. I’m really not asking directly, so this may keep me out of trouble.

I hope to start watching the first of the webinar videos tonight. I will report more on that later and will also talk a bit about the presence of Video and where it figures into all this new stuff on the internet.

My Two New Affiliate Sites

I managed to get the two new affiliate sites up and I used the exact same adwords’ ads for both sites. That way they both have the same chance of being listed. We’ll see what the difference turns out to be in impressions and click throughs.

Here are the two sites….

http://www.allcbreviews.com/howto/makemoney.html

That is the Google Nemesis site.

Here is the site I built on my own….

http://www.makemoney.theslimtruth.com

So we shall see how things go. Remember that the Google Nemesis program runs $67 a month. The programs that I used to build the second site combined cost is about $100 or less. And that was a one time cost.

Let’s see what happens with these new sites.

Experiment Goes On

Well the experiment goes on with less than fantastic results. The Google Nemesis site has had about 75 visitors. Not great traffic by any means. No sales. The other site that I built promoting the same affiliate program has had less visitors, but it has two days less time than the Nemesis site on the net.

Now the question is have I chosen the wrong affiliate program to promote? That may in fact be the case. To drive traffic to the two sites, we are using google adwords. Now it is fair to say that the adwords ads promoting the two sites are very similar and gets about the same amount of impressions. The click through rates are not very good for either campaign. I have changed them up and have been using techniques that I have been learning about from different marketers.

So I may leave those two sites up and see about picking another affiliate program to promote and see if there is any better results. So this evening I will go looking through clickbank for an affiliate program that may be better to promote. Then I’ll build two sites to see which one performs better in that affiliate program.

Regardless of what people tell you, making money on the internet is no walk in the park. You must do a lot of work on the front end. Finding the right program to promote is not easy as you can see. And developing your own program is no piece of cake either.  Either way, the next step is driving traffic to your site. That in it’s self is not easy. It’s easy enough to put together an adwords campaign, but getting it right is a whole different matter.

We will continue to go after it. Whatever it is. I suppose money is what it is actually. The measure of success for me at the present is making more money that I spend on adwords’ ads. Right now that is just about 60% effective. The income being driven my way is small, but thankfully so is the adwords’ cost. I don’t think that increasing my bid amount on my keywords would do any better, as the keywords that I am using puts my ads in about the 3 to 7th place ranking. That’s the order they are displayed in when displayed on a page. According to the Gurus that is a very good range for your ads. It is suppose to bring the serious buyers when they click in that range.

So I believe my google adwords ability is getting honed to a pretty fine edge. I’m getting a fair amount of impressions with a low cost per click. It’s just the click through rate is very small. Again they may have to do with the niche that we are attempting to make money in at present.

If you have any ideas as to which niche you would like to see us go after, feel free to post a comment and let me know. I will find a program with a high ranking in that niuche and we will build a couple of competing sites and see what happens. But if I don’t hear from anybody, then I’ll have to just select my own. I will be doing that later tonight. So by tomorrow night I will hopefully have two new sites up and running and competing with adword campaigns lined up and competing also.

So if you have any input, please put up a comment!

I Really Need Your Opinion …Now Let’s get some Votes Here!

Ok…I’ve let you be silent long enough. If you don’t say something, I’m going to hunt you down like a wild animal…just kidding of course. But please take a look and leave a comment. I think this is important.

I’m going to give you two websites to go look at. I built both of them. They promote the exact same two products. One of the sites is the site that was made with ‘Google Nemesis’ which I pay $67 a month to use.  The other website was again built just by me, using 3 programs that totaled I think less than a one time cost of $100 and one was even free. Now the order in which I present them has no special meaning, I wrote both of them down and pulled them out of a hat to decide the order that I list them.

So please go take a look at them and then come back and tell me which is the ‘Google Nemesis’ site and then the one that I built without using ‘Google Nemesis’   Remember your comments will really help all of our readers. Even though there are few comments….there are a lot of people who come here and read. So be kind and give me a piece of your mind.

and now site 2

Okay…now it’s up to you.

How About These Numbers

The question asked by most People interested in trying a business online is, Can you really make any money on the internet. It depends on who you ask. And I guess when you ask also. The truthful answer is yes and no. There are so many variables involved that while there are really only 2 answers, how you arrive at the right answer depends on how you mix those variables.

Let’s take a look at the most recent launch that has stirred up the internet. A young guy, crazy I can’t remember his name, just launched ‘Google Nemesis’…..Every big name on the internet was an affiliate marketer. You should have had several email messages in your mailbox touting this new release.

As I told you before, I look at a zillion things and buy quite a few and put them to the test. They don’t perform, then it’s off to guarantee city. Either you live up to your claims or I want my money back. I paid for Google Nemesis…it’s $67 a month. So it’s a membership setup, which allows you to use their software to put up websites and keep track of any sales along with site visits. You are promoting clickbank products as affiliates.

Getting back to does anyone make money on the internet. Let’s consider these numbers. Based on the emails I have read, there are right at 3500 people who paid the $67 for the program. That was suppose to be just about the limit of people that were going to be allowed in, at least at that price. There maybe more but at a higher price. The total take in 48 hours or less, Right at $235,000!! And that is just for the first month. If everyone sticks around for month 2, then there is another $235,000 in the ole bankaroo. So I’d say these guys made money.

Now I have put up one site. Promoting a wedding planning book that comes with planning software as a free bonus and Then professional wedding speeches as the 2nd product. As of this afternoon, I have had 21 visitors to my site and no sales. $26 is the most expensive product out of the two I’m promoting.  And the product really looks like a great product. So I’m really surprised that not one sale yet. I have a couple of pretty decent adword ads promoting the site.

Now here’s the rub. There are currently only two physical webpages to choose from on their site. And you can only set them up one way. They are fill in the blanks type page. There are only so many clickbank products for sale. Although the number is pretty big. But who in their right mind is going to pick some crappy products to try and sell. Now  there are 3500 of us all attempting to do the same thing. So what’s going to happen. I don’t know, but I suspect that the drop out rate is going to be high come this next month.

But the damage is already done. The money is in the bank and over $200,000 in 48 hours is nothing to sneeze at, I don’t think so anyway. Now I have a couple of free products or they were extremely cheap to get, that will let me do the same thing that Google Nemesis let’s me do. But, and it’s a giant but, The free products produce a much better looking page. With much more info on it.

So I’m going to run a test for the next 30 days. I’m going to build another site using these free tools and promote the exact same products. I’ll run the same adword campaigns and we’ll see what happens.  $67 versus my free programs….again I think they were free or just a few bucks at most. If I did pay for them, it was a one time payment.

Who knows, if my free stuff produces better maybe we’ll do our own launch from here…..that may be a bit ambitous so we’ll just worry about building the new webpage and see what happens. I’ll try and get the site up and running tonight if I can.
