I’m still here in Las Vegas and should be returning home on Wednesday. When I get home I will be able to start putting the new blog together. I did receive a response from WordPress Direst. As usual, they need more information from me and so I will see if I can find what they want so they can answer my support question.

One way or the other I am going to start the blog Wed night. If not with WordPress Direct or build it on my own. I built this site as you may recall. And the traffic here is growing by the month. Now it is true that there hasn’t been any real money made here even though we have monetized the site a bit. But that is ok.

The monetization of this site was more about practice than substance result in that area. But I must say again, the software featured on the tools page is a program that anyone that writes articles should and actually must have….It writes the articles for you no matter what the subject matter is or how long you may want to write it.

I’m having a great time here in Vegas and am glad I came. But it has slowed me down in getting my new blog up and running. But it has also given me more time to work with the horse racing software that will be providing the horse selection content for the new blog. It seems to be working well and should be a lot of fun to use and allow me to put up some great picks for tracks all over the country.

What Happens In Vegas…Doesn’t Stay

Well I made it to Las Vegas. Found out my friends don’t have computer network I can use so I had to come down and find a coffee house with free wifi. I haven’t been able to check my email, so not sure if I have a response from WordPress Direct Support yet. I’ll check soon and see what I can find. If not, then I will start to build my Horse Race handicapping blog.

The only thing is that not sure what kind of wordPress theme I’ll be able find to use. But I guess that isn’t the most important thing right now.

Getting some funny looks since I have been in here for some time now. So I better scoot before they give me a bill for rent. Talk soon.

On The Road

I will be traveling tomorrow to Las Vegas for a week. I will be staying with friends, but will have my computer with me. I am working on setting up my new blog on horse racing handicapping. I am waiting to hear from Wordpress Direct Support due to a technical problem with their software. If I don’t get an answer right away, I will go ahead and build the blog on my own and optimize the blog for search engines myself. The only thing is that I have picked out a very cool theme page for my blog that is only available through WordPress Direct.

I’m excited about the new blog. There is over 200 searches per day for my keyword phrase. Also the competing sites total about 14,000. That is well within the parameters  laid out by the 30 Day Challenge. I can’t wait to see where we will get indexed on Google.

I joined Ed Dale’s ‘Immediate Edge’ tonight. There is a 14 day trial period. I will report on how that goes and what is going on there. Ed is the guy behind the 30 Day program and my first look at the member site, there seems to be a lot of cool stuff. Especially some software that is exciting. As usual we shall see how things go.

Giddy Up Buckaroo

I thought it would never happen. Yep…I finally found a niche to go back through 30 Day Challenge with and redo the process. This time it should go much faster. I’m really excited about this niche. I was very hesitant at first, but then realized that I needed to do something that I really like and will be enthusiastic about when it’s time to blog.

One reason why I was hesitant is that the niche requires reaching out to a group of people that on the whole contain very sophisticated customers and at the same time, contain very unsophisticated potential customers. Where that becomes a problem is that members of the first group are very reluctant to buy and have an extremely critical eye when reviewing a product. You have to really impress them. And they are not prone to buy into a service as much as they might be interested in some software.

The second group is even harder to reach because of their lack of sophistication. Especially when it comes to computer information and access. These potential customers are most inclined to pay for a service, but in a paper format that is available in their local area. But who knows, maybe there is more of a market than I think. The only way to find out is just do it….right?

Okay, enough stalling. The niche I have settled on is ….’drum roll please’……Horse Race Handicapping!  I love horse racing. It is truly the ‘Sport of Kings’ and a magnificent experience when standing track side at the finish line and watch the horses come thundering down the stretch.  The sound of hooves pounding the track…the smell….all the cheering and yelling from the crowd….it really can be an intoxicating experience.

So the idea is to setup a Horse Race Handicapping Blog that will discuss all things horsey basically, and….offer up free horse picks. I will do that for some time. It will be necessary to prove that the picks offered will be profitable and worth paying for down the road. I will be using software that I have written and is solely available to me. If nothing else, it will be a lot of fun. To keep it operating as it’s own entity, I will operate it using a pseudonym.

Once I get it up and running, I will post the URL and we’ll see how it goes.

Got The Itch…Need A Niche

You would think that finding a niche to blog about would be no big deal. There is no shortage of subjects that’s for sure. And with the 30 Day Challenge tips and tricks that I have acquired, turning out a profitable blog should be no problem. All that is true.

The rub comes in at the point of decision. For me that has become a major stumbling block. Deciding which niche to take on and turn into a blog. Maybe it’s just me……maybe I just have a bad case of dumbitis. But in my favor, I have heard from a few readers that they seem to face the same problem. I’m glad to hear it’s not just me.

I do have quite a few interests. But all of them seem to have more pages listed in Google, than Carter has pills. Millions and millions of pages exist in almost every niche that I have an interest in and would be inclined to blog about on a regular basis.

So what is the answer? Man….I just don’t know. I keep searching day in and day out, but to no avail. That perfect niche continues to allude me. And evidently not just me. It’s an epidemic. Okay that maybe a bit melodramatic, but I am that bummed out. I want a niche. And damn it, I can’t find one.

So put on your thinking caps and quit whining to me about not being able to find a niche. That’s my job to be the whiner!

What The Hell To Do?

Forgive my French, but I am at a loss and just don’t know what to do. I went through day 26-27-28 of the 30 Day Challenge and there is really nothing to report. Just some fine tuning for our blog for our chosen keyword phrase. As you may remember, I chose Concert Promotions as my phrase. I picked it as I discovered the 30 day the night before it was to start. So I grasped at straws and ended up with my choice.

Problem is, the search results are very low and as a result the traffic is very light. I have ranked very well for the keyword phrase on Google, but still not enough traffic to even make a difference. Based on the 30 day guidelines, I need to find a different niche. And that is where the rub comes in……I can not find a niche that meets of even comes close to the parameters set out in the 30 day.

I have used SEObook keyword tool and used ‘Market Samurai’ which is a very cool tool to look for a new niche that I can redo.  But I just can’t  for the life of me, find a good niche.  I need one that I’d be interested in, I know that, but it just isn’t happening for me.

I will keep looking, but I am getting very frustrated. My interests lie in the areas of….Horse Race Handicapping…..Poker….Computer programming…….golf….Internet marketing…..Pets (especially dogs). Harley Davidson motorcycles and movies are a couple more areas of interest. So far I haven’t been able to find anything in connection to these subjects that I can use. Maybe I’m just an Internet Dumbass, I don’t know.

Since I have such a mental dead zone, I have decided to put off any shot at Network Marketing for a while. I have come across some information about building Squidoo lenses and selling them. I may try and build one and see if I can sell it. I’ll let you know if that happens. If anyone has a niche idea that I can use for the 30 day, I’d appreciate hearing from you. If it works out, I will even share the profit with you.

Just email me at alwalton@allenwalton.com , or you can leave a comment if you want too for this post. Lord knows that I could use the help. So put on your thinking cap and give me some ideas.

Times Are Tough

Times are a bit tough right now. We are having some serious family issues and that has impeded my ability to get on track. I’m hoping that in the next couple of days that I can get back on line. You just never know when life is going to throw a wet blanket on you and it’s not easy getting out under it that’s for sure.

I’m really going to try and get back on the 30 Day Challenge tomorrow if at all possible. I’ll just keep my fingers crossed.

So What Is Happening Now?

This is going to be short tonight. I plan on getting back to the 30 Day Challenge tomorrow and try and get it finished. I still have to find a better niche and then will redo the 30 day challenge steps and see how that goes. I suspect it will go well. After all we reached as high as #4 in Google for our chosen keyword. And that was done in just two days. Then we have settled in at #17 with an article my brother wrote about Concert Promotions and submitted to EzineArticles.com which has been read many times and republished.

Then I am embarking on an MLM project. Right now it is just looking into some training program somewhat like the 30 day program for blogging. Once I see which way to go and make a decision concerning the MLM info, I will explain what is going to happen. Again our mission here is to make everything we do transparent.

So stick around and we’ll see how things progress.

Question Is

Question is…what do you have to do to make money online.  Regardless of what anybody says, having your own product is really the best. That way you control what happens to it, how it is marketed and where it’s marketed. I know there are people making money with affiliate programs, but the competition for those dollars is quite huge.

Most affiliate money is made by the big boys when a new product launch happens. It’s pretty funny to see about 8 different emails touting the virtues of one new product. Each email is associated with a different big name in the marketing world.  Or at least a well known name.

You may be asking yourself, how can I get a chance to be an affiliate marketer during one of the big launches. Well you can’t. Not unless you somehow become friends or acquaintances with the closely knit group that always seems to be in the mix when a new product hits the Internet. Other than that, it’s nearly impossible to get in on the front end.

You get to be an affiliate marketer once most of the easy sales are completed. Then you get the nod. But that is once it is setup with Clickbank or Affiliate Junction or something like those sites. Once that opportunity does become available, the sales have dropped to a trickle and you are likely to pick up a sale or two once in a while. But the land office business is already over.

So don’t kid yourself when you read about the millions being made by affiliate marketers. It just ain’t so Martha. Google Nemesis is a prime example. It went to market and was promoted by several people. Each one offering something free if you bought through them. But no where could you find the place to sign up as an affiliate before the product roll out.

As you may have read here, I think Google nemesis is a terrible product. We did a test pitting it against a same style sight made by me with cheap or free software, and each site performed the same. No sales promoting the same affiliate product. And the product was suppose to be one of the better ones. Over 250 clicks on the Google Nemesis page and not one sale. And that wonder service costs $67 a month. Last time I checked anyway. I personally don’t think it’s worth 67 cents.

So that takes us back to having your own product or service. It’s not easy to go that route either. We’ll get into that a little later down the road. I’m looking into developing a product or two. When or I should say if and when it happens I will offer affiliate marketing to my readers here first. I’m not even sure yet what we are looking at, but when I do, I’ll announce it here first.
