That may seem a bit dramatic for a headline, but it rings true. That maybe tragic or may not be. I guess it’s a matter of perspective, as is most everything I suppose.

I was in the middle of watching a new video put out by well known marketer, John Reese. It’s a lead up to his ‘Traffic Secrets 2.0′ new program. While watching this video, it dawned on me that there is a real divide and difference from people on the net.

Like many things in life, the first in suffers most of the pain of learning concerning whatever it is they just leaped into, but they are also the first to recieve the rewards. And as time goes on, their position gets stronger and stronger. Now what does that have to do with anything. Well since this is a site about internet and network marketing, it has a lot to do with things. Primarily, the level of tools that are developed, marketed and timeliness of entrance into the marketplace.

I have a couple of good ideas. I think they are good anyway. But I do not have the financial capability to pay someone thousands to write the programs or write the copy that people such as John Reese, Shawn Casey, Tellman and other’s do. So where’s that leave us who are trying to get started marketing on the net. In a pretty deep hole actually.

It’s almost a vicious circle when you think about it. The little guy is always or most always way behind the curve. The fat cat marketer comes out with the newest gadget and us little guys have no recourse than to pay them to use it. By the time we gear up and start to form our plan and get things going, the next big Guru pops up with a new gadget or program.

How do they come up with these programs. Well they spend a fair amount of money testing new ideas. Money that you and I don’t have or can not afford to spend. By the time they figure it all out, they have made thousands of dollars proving it works. And then they pay to have thier system programmed by someone, and then start to market it to us, the people that were used as guienea pigs to prove the system works. We have spent all the money proving it’s a good system to generate money.

So now we get a shot at the new program touting whatever it is, and by now the financial wave has passed us by and while we try and make this new system work, They are off creating and testing the new idea they will sell to us soon. Only after we get frustrated not making money with the last big thing to come down the pike.

I know this is rather synical. But what led me to form this opinion, is that I’m in the middle of trying to establish a niche empire based on the last big thing in traffic generation, and now here is John Reese with the newest great idea. Hell, I don’t even have the last one half way done. And here I am watching a video that one of the famous online gurus sent me. Again here I sit behind the curve.

It sounds as if I’m ready to give up. but that is not the case. This site is meant to be a live case study of just the average guy’s journey in the Internet Marketing world. Quiting is not an option. But frustration is as you can tell. Is there an answer? I do not know. If there is, I don’t have it. Nor do I have a clue where it maybe staying.

I will continue to watch the video and see what I’ll probably being doing in another month or two, unless some of my Niche Markets start kicking down some coin. I do know that I have to get the Family’s sales page done. But that seems like an awful daunting task after reading that these Gurus pay professional copywriters thousands of dollars to write their sales pages.

Oh, I’m going to give it a damn good try.

  2. Hi Allen

I’ve been around in the online field since ‘95, but I still regard myself as a bit of a “newbie” as I’ve only been in IM for over 12 months.

I too never run short on ideas but, as you say, when you are but one person competing against the gooroo juggernaut (and the partners they have to help them promote their offers) it does make you question the time you spend on developing your own products, especially when they release something that is a direct competitor to what you are doing!!!

What can you do to compete against that?

Well - you can’t, and you shouldn’t! Look for different ways of doing the same thing.

For example, and you can call me a bit slow if you like, but I didn’t realise until tonite that you can actually put music/sound into a pdf! Now THAT excites me somewhat… and makes me wonder what I might be able to do with that…

And that’s a good start… look for those sorts of “differences” to rise above all the “noise” in your niche.

    Cheers
    Stephen

  3. Just please don’t start singing in your ebooks….LOL
